Who Killed Semele?

Nov 20 2013

New Vintage Baroque returns to the stage to perform their second concert of a three-part series looking at characters from Ovid’s The Metamorphoses. Featuring music by Handel, Bernier, Lully, and a new piece by Doug Balliett, this performance will unravel the story of Cadmus the serpent-slayer and the death of his beguiling daughter Semele. It is an intriguing mystery that begs the question: Where do we lay blame when everyone involved may be at fault?
